Sugaring is a natural hair removal technique similar to waxing, often called sugar waxing or Persian waxing. It’s been used since 1900 BC, when smooth skin was the beauty ideal in Egypt (even Cleopatra is said to have used it).

This method is usually gentler than waxing because the sugar sticks only to the hair, not the skin. It can be used at room temperature or warmed to avoid burns. I make my mix using organic Hawaiian cane sugar, and since it’s water-based, cleanup is easy with warm water.
